GO BEYOND TRADITIONAL TALK THERAPY
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing or EMDR is a brain-based technique that is evidence-based, has been clinically studied for decades, and has been proven effective for treating multiple symptoms. EMDR is now considered one of the most effective therapies for treating trauma.
The goal of EMDR is to reduce distress and negative beliefs associated with past overwhelming or traumatic experiences that are having a significant impact in your day-to-day life.
The core of EMDR is a very simple method of painlessly stimulating your brain in order to take the emotional charge out of your most traumatic memories and reframe your most troubling negative beliefs. EMDR uses eye movements or alternating tapping in order to provide bilateral stimulation to your brain. Stimulating both hemispheres of your brain helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories or stuck beliefs so you can finally find relief.

EMDR is different than traditional talk therapy in that it is more structured and follows a systematized protocol. There is also less verbal processing involved. During the EMDR session you will recall distressing memories or events while simultaneously using bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess, which leads to adaptive resolution and emotional healing.
